TELUS now introducing 'endless' data plans and $0 upfront on all phones

In June, TELUS introduced a promotion that allowed customers to have more data for a cheaper price.

At the time, the Canadian telecom giant introduce a new 15 GB for $75 /month plan that was running as a timed promotion.

The news came after Rogers announced its Infinite plan, which includes ‘unlimited’ wireless data on June 12. Their plans start at $75 for 10 GB of high-speed data for every line on the LTE network. However, after the initial 10 GB, customers will be forced to use the rest of their unlimited data at reduced speeds.

Rogers also said it would be launching “new financing options giving customers more affordable smartphone and device opportunities,” details of which were released on Wednesday.

And now, TELUS has introduced its endless data plan that isn’t running as a promo, and $0 upfront “on every single phone.”

According to TELUS, the Easy Payment “provides customers with clear, simple, affordable and fair choices for how to purchase a device.”

There are two components to this payment plan, TELUS says.

“Upfront Amount: This is the amount the customer pays at the time of the purchase, plus applicable taxes. Monthly Easy Payment Charge: The Easy Payment Balance (i.e. month-to-month price less Upfront Amount) is divided into 24 equal amounts to be repaid monthly as part of the customer’s bill at 0% interest,” it states.
