There’s no reason to quit your coffee habit when summer is going strong…just chill it out a bit. Sure, you can go for regular iced coffee, but there are a few next-level summertime coffee drinks being poured in YYC that are definitely worth checking out.

Here are three must-try summer coffee drinks to check out in Calgary right now. And remember, like summer, they aren’t going to stick around here forever!

Creamsicle Cold Brew at Monogram Coffee

For a cold brew with a super summery punch, Monogram Coffee is making a Creamsicle Cold Brew that will take you back to those childhood memories of the ice cream truck, with a grown up caffeinated twist.

Monogram takes cold brew and adds condensed milk unfused with vanilla and orange, and tops the iced bev with shaken cream. Just add a straw and you’re good to go.

Mini Donut “Popogatto” at The Beltliner

Move over, affogato, there’s a new guy in town. The coffee whizzes at The Beltliner are taking summer to the max with their Mini Donut “Popogatto,” which features a Family Freezed mini donut popsicle served inside a cup with a shot of Fratello Espresso.

It’s a kicked up sweetened affogato, or you can also think of it as coffee and donuts, with a twist. Rescue those mini donuts early on while they still have some bite, then enjoy your sweet, creamy coffee. This has been on special at the diner, and our server says we can likely keep finding this here through August.

Black and Tonic at Phil & Sebastian

Black and Tonic (Lindsay William-Ross/Daily Hive)

You can get an espresso and tonic at Phil & Sebastian’s many YYC coffee shops, but they also have a special Black and Tonic that throws a little summer sweet-tartness in the mix. P&S are taking chilled coffee, pouring it over ice, and adding in black cherry juice, and Fever Tree tonic to top it off.

The result is a fizzy, mildly sweet and subtly fruity full flavoured cold coffee jolt. Perfect for a stroll by the river or to enjoy with friends on the cafe patio.
