Spruce Meadows has unveiled a brand-new, immersive Christmas light walk-through festival, replacing its decades-old Christmas Lights Drive-Thru.
The new event, called The Enchanted Festival at Spruce Meadows, will run on weekends in December, with the final day taking place on Dec. 24
This exciting transformation will allow visitors to experience the famous Spruce Meadows Christmas lights on foot, rather than simply driving past them.
The Spruce Meadows light display consists of over one million lights stretching more than 50 kilometres. Some displays guests can look forward to are 100 shimmering horses, charming animals like peacocks, bears, and foxes, and tunnels of twinkling lights.
Beyond the lights, visitors can enjoy fire pits, food, interactive activities, and seasonal market vendors.Â
For those looking to escape the cold, the 36,000 sq. ft Equi-Plex is being transformed into a cozy indoor wonderland. You can relax in their cozy rest areas, wander through a Sparkling light display, enjoy family-friendly movies, and explore Calgaryâs only indoor Christmas light maze.Â
âFor nearly 30 years, families have enjoyed the Christmas Lights Drive-Through as part of their holiday tradition. However, as its popularity grew, so did the traffic congestion and safety risks, far beyond what our internal roads and surrounding communities could safely handle,â said Linda Southern-Heathcott, president and CEO of Spruce Meadows, in a news release.
The event is ticketed, with proceeds going towards the Calgary and area food banks through the Spruce Meadows Leg Up Foundation.
