If you’re looking to hit the slopes soon, an Alberta ski resort just got some major recognition for making the most of spring conditions.
Travel + Leisure recently released a list of the 10 best places for spring skiing in North America, and Sunshine Village found itself on the list.
Located just outside of the Banff townsite, the high-elevation resort is known for its long season, typically staying open until May, and its reliable late-season snow conditions.
“Banff offers jaw-dropping views of the Canadian Rockies from the top of every run, and they look all the more spectacular on a bluebird spring day.”
The list notes that Sunshine Village is a great place to check out in the spring, thanks to thinner crowds, warmer temperatures, and the light snow, which makes for soft and forgiving conditions.

Sunshine Village is no stranger to the spotlight. It has been named one of the best ski resorts in western North America and one of the best in the world for beginners.
The resort plans to close on May 18 this year, giving skiers a few extra weeks on the slopes compared to nearby resorts. Lake Louise Ski Resort is scheduled to wrap up on May 3, while Mount Norquay plans to close on May 1.
Sunshine Village was the only Alberta spot to make the list, while Whistler Blackcomb was the only other Canadian resort to make the cut for spring skiing, thanks to its snow and the World Ski & Snowboard Festival it hosts in early April.
