Inside the Rimrock Banff hotel's huge renovation ahead of its summer opening

Apr 22 2026, 7:16 pm

One of Banff’s most iconic hotels is undergoing an enormous transformation, and we got an early look at how the Rimrock will look when it opens later this year.

Last June, it was announced that the Rimrock Banff would be joining Accor’s newest luxury collection brand, Emblems Collection, becoming the first North American hotel to do so.

It was also revealed that the current resort, which was completed in 1993, would be undergoing a full top-to-bottom renovation, spearheaded by boutique design agency Studio Collective.

In anticipation, the Rimrock closed its doors in October 2025, and since then, work has been underway in order to meet its targeted reopening date this summer.

Touted as a “private Mountain Club experience,” the new and improved Rimrock will still offer the unparalleled views of the Rockies that it’s known for, with the addition of brand-new luxurious rooms and nature-inspired wellness facilities.

As work is underway on the huge transformation, Daily Hive was able to take a peek inside to see what the Rimrock has in store for guests.

Rooms

The newly transformed Rimrock will offer 320 guest rooms and suites, a minor difference from its previous iteration, which housed 333 rooms due to some slight reconfigurations.

There’ll be a variety of room sizes for guests to book, from studios and one-bedroom suites, right up to its two-bedroom Infinity Suite, which will come complete with a large rooftop patio with a glass railing.

Taking inspiration from the phenomenal Banff landscapes, each room embraces the natural light and will be finished with a contemporary design and soft textures. There will also be nine specific “wellness suites” which have equipment such as yoga blocks and mats, and complimentary healthy snacks and drinks in the room.

Amenities

Wellness in all its forms will be a huge focus of the renovated space, and no matter the time of year, the Rimrock will have an enormous Wellness Centre that is available to all guests.

Taking advantage of its stunning scenery, the Rimrock will reopen with a brand-new infinity pool, looking out over the Bow Valley.

Another huge addition to the hotel will be its Wellness Centre, featuring a large 9,600 square foot bathhouse, complete with a steam room, vitality pool and cold plunge.

The spot will offer a meditation room with a variety of suspended seating, a large 20-person sauna with panoramic views of the Rockies, a sensory room for relaxation with projections of the aurora borealis, and a juice bar.

There will also be a state-of-the-art fitness centre, with equipment from Peloton and Technogym, as well as a 20-foot climbing wall and a bouldering wall.

Of course, being in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the Rimrock will also be launching a new Expeditions Centre, helping guests to connect to the national park. A team of dedicated Pathfinders with extensive knowledge of the park will contact guests in advance about what they’d like to experience and work with local guides on bespoke experiences.

Restaurants

Prior to closing, the Rimrock was home to Eden, the much-acclaimed restaurant, which was recognized on La Liste’s World’s Best Restaurants selection, among many other accolades.

However, when the hotel reopens, there’ll be a whole host of new dining locations to check out. One of which will be Parker’s Table, the main dining room of the resort. The space will offer a menu focusing on the very best seasonal ingredients Canada has to offer.

There will also be a new coffee bar and biergarten, Rimrock Market, a space that will be open throughout the day for those seeking a caffeine boost, something to eat to refuel after a busy day, or apres anything.

The hotel lobby will undergo a huge transformation to become the Social, a beverage-forward spot with a largely plant-focused menu, taking guests from day to night.

Another unique addition to the hotel is the Listening Room, tucked to the side of the main lobby. Here, guests will be able to enjoy rare spirits and fine wines to the sound of vinyl being played.

Rimrock Banff will be reopening this summer, with reservations open now.
