A fun, free, and gorgeous night out on the town just became that much easier to enjoy.
Lighten UP Calgary has brought back their interactive light display map, allowing for Calgarians to pinpoint exactly where some of the best residential light displays are in the city.
Whether you’re bringing the whole household out for some holiday fun or going on a dazzling date night, the map offered at Lighten UP Calgary’s website makes tracking down those displays a LOT easier than just cruising around city blocks.

Plus, if you happen to have put together a display you’re particularly proud of, you can post it on the map yourself for all to see!
“Every year many Calgary residents and neighbourhoods cover their houses with festive Christmas lights and other great decorations, they bring Christmas spirit to the local communities,” the Lighten UP website states.
“Itâs the most wonderful time of the year, and it just wouldnât be Christmas time without twinkling lights. Share your Holiday Cheer and show us your lit-up homes, nativity scenes, or North Poles galore.”
Lighten UP Calgary takes donations that go directly to the Veterans Food Bank Calgary and the Calgary Food Bank. In 2019 they raised enough donations for 595 pounds of food!
Here’s a quick screenshot of where you’ll be able to find displays in Calgary — although we’d still suggest going to their website, as each “Santa” provides a description, address, and photos:
Please be sure to practice safe physical distancing when checking out these displays — staying in the car may be your best bet to stay safe from both COVID-19 and the cold!
