Nov 10 2020, 9:59 pm

Every November 11 Canadians across the country take time to pay their respects to our fallen soldiers.

Calgary will be live-streaming multiple ceremonies throughout the city for residents to watch, along with implementing some changes to city services on Wednesday.

On Remembrance Day, all veterans in uniform or with their identification cards will be allowed to ride transit for free along with their accompanying family members. Calgary Transit will be operating at a Sunday level of Service this Wednesday.

On-street parking will be free on November 11, and holiday rates will be in effect for parkades and select surface lots.

All city-run arenas, athletic parks, pools, and fitness centres will be closed for Remembrance Day, except for those with advanced bookings.

All three of Calgary’s city landfills will be open for business on Wednesday, November 11.

The North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Arts Centres will be closed, along with the Animal Services Centre.

Flags at all Government of Canada, Government of Alberta, and City of Calgary facilities will be lowered to half-mast from dawn to dusk on Wednesday, states the release.
