RCMP aware of video showing car being driven on Alberta pedestrian path
RCMP say they are aware of a video appearing to show a man driving along a pedestrian pathway in Fort McMurray.
The now-deleted video was shared and widely circulated Tuesday by a Facebook account belonging to Devon Glasgow. It shows a car coming close to pedestrians while travelling along the pathway adjacent to Highway 63.
“Thanks to that pedestrian for not tearing me a new one,” the post’s caption read. “I refuse to sit in gridlock; I was always taught to have an escape path, perfect for days like this.”

The post claimed Fort McMurray’s road network has a flaw because only one highway carries traffic into and out of the community. It also claimed the driver had “successfully avoided every jam” using a “secret path” and the vehicle’s “off-road prowess.”

The post included references to a Subaru BRZ.

Wood Buffalo RCMP confirmed that police received a report about the pathway video on Aug. 12 and opened a file. No charges had been recorded.
