Aug 31 2016, 12:21 am

The Toronto Raptors have confirmed yesterday’s report and will indeed play the Denver Nuggets in a preseason game at the Scotiabank Saddledome on October 3rd.

This marks the fifth year for the annual NBA Canada Series, and the first time that the Raptors have played in Calgary since 1996.

Tickets go on sale Friday, September 2nd on Ticketmaster at 10 am MT.

Apart from the excitement of seeing Raptors All-Stars Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, the game will also be an opportunity to see Canadian Jamal Murray, the 7th overall pick by the Nuggets in this year’s draft, play his first preseason game.

“It’s been a long, unpredictable journey and now I’m happy to be with a team that has a perfect situation for me,” said Murray. “It’s going to be fun matching up with Toronto in Calgary for the first game of the preseason.”

The Raptors, who are making inroads into truly becoming ‘Canada’s team’, will play the Golden State Warriors in Vancouver prior to coming to Calgary.

“As Canada’s basketball team, the Raptors are excited to bring the NBA to cities across our country,” said Raptors guard and Canadian national team member Cory Joseph. “We look forward to returning to Vancouver, where we had a sellout last year, and making new fans during our visit to Calgary.”

All stops on the NBA Canada Series will feature a number of interactive fan events, NBA legend appearances, and NBA Cares community outreach programs.
