Rain and flurry-filled weekend in store for start of May in Calgary

Get ready for a wet weekend, Calgary.

Both The Weather Network and Environment Canada are forecasting some showers and flurries on their way for YYC, with roughly 10 mm of rain and up to 12 cm of snow expected to fall over the next four days.

The good news (if you can call it that) is that, for the most part, the snow and rain will be falling at the same time, potentially stopping the snow from sticking and covering Calgary’s roads for what seems like the millionth time this year.

The Weather Network pegs Friday at a 30% chance of precipitation, though the odds won’t be in our favour come Saturday and Sunday when they get cranked up to 70%.

Monday follows suit with a 70% chance as well, though the start of next week is expected to be more snow (1 to 3 cm) than rain (less than 1 mm).

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday will be a fine chance to thaw out the city for good, as it’ll be nothing but a mix of sun and clouds and highs of 9 to 13°C.

It’s not quite the snowstorm we were hit with last weekend, but it’s definitely not the warm summer weather we’ve all been hoping for…

But we’re sure that’s somewhere out there on the horizon.
