Got midnight munchies? Try Calgary's snack delivery service

Dec 19 2017, 11:02 am

Watch out hungry Calgarians, a snack delivery service is coming to town.

Zack Shapiro of QuickSnax will bring any of your favourite snacks to your door for a nominal fee – depending on what part of town you live in, of course. Think anything from chips and pop to fast food burgers. As long as it takes a short time to obtain, Shapiro will bring it to your door.

“I think the idea came to me on the basis that I would probably use a service like this if I wasn’t running it,” Shapiro told Calgary Buzz.

“I can’t count the number of times that I’ve been out late at night somewhere and needed snacks.”

Shapiro said he’s largely targeting his business towards young people – think college students who like to drink and party.

Rates are based on the distance you live from downtown Calgary. The first five kilometres from downtown is five dollars, the first 15 is 10 dollars, and then after that, Shapiro said “we’ll talk.”

So far, Shapiro believes his snack delivery business is the first of its kind in Calgary, but he thinks it’s about time.

“I’ve always found that weird for a city of a million people, Calgary’s lacking some of the conveniences for a city that size, so I’m bringing one of them.”

For Shapiro, this will be a part-time gig; he’s a college student and is looking to earn a little extra cash, so he’ll be working prime partying hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.

QuickSnax officially launches on February 5.
