This natural ice rink in Alberta is every skater's dream

Okay, okay, we get it, we’ve written about a few frozen Rocky Mountains ponds in the past… But seriously you guys, this one is the place to skate.

Surrounded by white-capped peaks, dense forests, and the all-encompassing silence only found deep in the wilderness of the Rockies, Pyramid Lake has become a go-to paradise for Canadian skaters.

This natural ice rink is located in Jasper, meaning that it’s a bit of a trek from Calgary to get to, but it’s well worth the trip.

The backdrop might have you taking your eyes off the puck (something we would never recommend doing) but the ice below your skates is just as mesmerizing.

Expanding far in every direction, Pyramid lake has frozen solid, offering a wintery playground for ice skaters, cross country skiers, and snow-shoed hikers alike.

Don’t believe us? Just take a peek at a few photos from this winter to see the beauty for yourself.

Ps. Don’t forget to pack the skates before you road-trip out to this frozen gem.

Contact Pyramid Lake Resort to ensure that the ice is frozen enough to skate, ski, or walk on.
