Old-fashioned candy store in Calgary has just closed after 10 years

A Calgary candy store has revealed that it has closed its doors.

Pixie’s Candy Parlour has closed its location at The District in Calgary’s northeast after a decade.

“After a lot of discussions, we made the incredibly hard decision to not renew our lease here at The District. After 10 years, the rent simply became just too much,” said Jackie, founder of Pixie’s Candy Parlour, in a video on social media.

First founded in 2013 at a local farmers market, Pixie’s Candy Parlour built up a loyal following of sweet-loving Calgarians before opening its storefront.

As well as selling fudge, cotton candy, and freeze-dried candy, the store is also home to imported candy and a refurbished 1950s soda fountain.

However, Pixie’s Candy is not disappearing. While the plan was always to move the store into the front space of its warehouse, there were some hurdles that prevented them from being able to open.

For now, Pixie’s products will still be available online, with the new storefront coming soon.
