Parks Canada issued an avalanche bulletin for the Family Day long weekend.
As a result of the recent storms passing through BC and Alberta, the depth of the current snowpack has doubled.
Parks Canada states that natural avalanches possible but human-triggered avalanches are more likely right now.

From Friday, February 17 to Sunday, February 19 mountain goers are cautioned from going into the following alpine areas, noting that avalanches below treeline are not likely:
- Banff National Park
- Yoho National Park
- Kootenay National Park
- Jasper National Park
- Waterton Lakes National Park
- Glacier National Park
