‘Tis the season!

Calgary’s favourite outdoor skating rink has finally opened, as Olympic Plaza’s rink is now accepting skaters as of this Monday, November 16.

Built in 1988 for the Olympic Winter Games, Olympic Plaza has the only refrigerated outdoor ice surface in the city.

As such, it is the first of Calgary’s many outdoor rinks to open for skating this winter.

Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, physical distancing is necessary for those hoping to enjoy the fresh ice.

You can rent skates at the plaza if you don’t have a pair starting on November 19.

You may want to leave the hockey sticks, toboggans, sleds, and strollers at home — they’re not allowed on the ice!

Olympic Plaza is located at 228 8th Avenue SE and is open from 6 am to 11 pm.
