There is no denying the popularity of a good beard these days, and the trend doesn’t seem to be disappearing any time soon.

Calgary has a long list of great ‘old school-style’ barber shops offering close shaves, hot towels and vigorous massages.

Johnny’s Barber + Shop

Johnny’s is a newer addition to the city, brought to us by the HedKandi family. Located in the basement of Last Best Brewing & Distilling, this modern shop has a huge perk: a liquor license!

Location: 607 11th Avenue SW

London Barbers

Although this barber shop only open 6 years ago, it was before this trend really took off. They’ve since made a name for themselves in YYC for having top notch service. You’re guaranteed to love the old school decor coupled a traditional shave.

Locations:

  • Beltline – 1108 4th Street SW
  • Kensington – 314E 10th Street NW
  • Downtown – 211, 555 8th Avenue SW

Cutting Edge Barber Shop

For those not willing to travel downtown for a cut or shave, Cutting Edge is conveniently located in the SW. Highly skilled barbers and a chill environment has given them the reputation.

Location: 10 Discovery Ridge Hill SW

Chin Whiskey

This old school barber shop offers an old school vibe with old school barber chairs. They produce their own beard oil and pomade to ensure you are keeping your look sharp.

Location:

  • Downtown – 403, 815 1st Street SW
  • Renfrew – 904 Edmonton Trail NE

Best of Seven Barbers

Best of Seven is leading the charge for men’s grooming in Calgary. Located on the main level of Bow Valley Square,  they pride themselves on a traditional hot shave and ‘old-school barbering roots’. They offer a special membership package, called The Empire Society, in which services are offered in a 115-year-old barber chair in a private room.

Location: Bow Valley Square Building, 255 5th Avenue S.W.
