Nova Scotia, Newfoundland only 2 provinces without coronavirus cases
March 14, 4 pm PST update: There is now one presumptive case of coronavirus in Newfoundland.
Only two Canadian provinces are completely free of COVID-19 as of March 14, because Prince Edward Island just announced its first confirmed presumptive case.
The Province of PEI announced on Saturday that there is one person who has tested positive for coronavirus. Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Heather Morrison, announced in a televised broadcast that the confirmed case is a woman in her 50s from the Queens County area who had returned from travel on a cruise ship.
“She actually did exactly what we would have wanted her to do,” Morrison said at the press conference.
“She came home from travel, and when she developed symptoms she called 811.”
Morrison also noted that the woman had returned home to PEI on March 7, and began showing symptoms of coronavirus on March 10.
She is now at home recovering and self-isolating.

As of March 14, there have been a total of 224 confirmed or probable cases of coronavirus detected in Canada, with eight out of the 10 provinces seeing cases.
Only Nova Scotia and Newfoundland have seen zero probable or confirmed cases so far, while 73 have been seen in BC, 29 in Alberta, two in Saskatchewan, four in Manitoba, 96 in Ontario, 24 in Quebec, two in New Brunswick, and the aforementioned one in Prince Edward Island.
There have also been zero confirmed or probable cases in Nunavut, Yukon, or the Northwest Territories.
With coronavirus on the rise, Health Canada is reminding individuals who attend events and large gatherings to monitor their health for signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
