North America’s 50 Best Restaurants to reveal inaugural ranking and here’s what to expect

A new prestigious list showcasing the very best in North America’s restaurant scene is set to debut this year.
Coming from the organization behind North America’s 50 Best Bars list, North America’s 50 Best Restaurants list is set to debut in 2025.
Despite multiple U.S. restaurants being placed on the World’s Best Restaurants list in 2024, the new list will be the “only comprehensive ranking of its kind” in North America, the organization said.
The new awards program aims to highlight the top dining destinations across the U.S., Canada, and parts of the Caribbean.
The ranking is based on the dining experiences of 300 expert voters, including chefs, restaurateurs, journalists, educators and gourmets. The voters will remain anonymous to prevent lobbying.
Voters are recruited by Academy chairs across eight sub-regions: the Caribbean (excluding Cuba and Dominican Republic), U.S. Northeast, U.S. South, U.S. Midwest, U.S. West, Canada East, Canada Mid-East, and Canada West.

Voters will name their top eight restaurant experiences over the last two years, and the votes are confidential and carried out on a secure site. Academy chairs, who are not anonymous, can also vote, but their votes don’t carry any extra weight.
There is no entry cost for restaurants, and all restaurant styles are eligible.
The first list will be revealed at an awards ceremony, accompanied by a live countdown later this year. The official date and location of the awards ceremony will come in due course.
Here’s hoping to see plenty of Canadian recognition when the list is revealed!
