The donation is in addition to the $100,000 donated by the Calgary Flames Foundation yesterday.

The Canadian Red Cross will facilitate care by providing shelter, food, accommodation, and comfort for the 80,000 people that were forced to evacuate.

“The National Hockey League family stands with all who have been affected by the devastating fires in Fort McMurray,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said in a media release. “We send thoughts of support and encouragement to our neighbours as they confront the physical and emotional impacts of this disaster.”
