A huge, new park with the tallest slide in Calgary opens soon

A new park is about to open in our city, featuring a dazzling array of attractions, including the tallest slide in Calgary.
The community of West District will celebrate the park’s grand opening next weekend, with Radio Park being touted as a park “unlike anything Calgary has ever seen before.”
The park spans over eight acres of land and is set to have a grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025.

The park will include a mix of recreation, entertainment and dining. Visitors can explore restaurants and retail, a lawn that overlooks a stormwater pond, an amphitheatre for festivals and concerts, a playground featuring Calgary’s tallest slide, a skatepark, a community garden and a dog park.
There will also be various water features around the park, including a sprayground, a decorative fountain, and an ice skating rink in the winter.
The grand opening will take place at Radio Park, 775 78th St. SW, in the West District. A ribbon cutting will take place at 10 a.m. to officially mark the opening of the park, and family-friendly activities like live music, Barkside dog agility, and soccer demos with the Wild FC will run from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The park will serve as a year-round destination for residents of the West District and Calgarians alike, offering a combination of active recreation, leisure space, and community that will draw in visitors by turning public space and stormwater management into a recreational destination.
