New Horizon Mall signs family entertainment centre as anchor tenant

Slowly but surely, New Horizon Mall is starting to see its once-empty space fill with businesses, grocers, and, as of this fall, a gigantic family entertainment centre.

As Alberta’s first condo mall, New Horizon Mall saw scrutiny when it opened with only a handful of stores on offer, but in the time since it has secured three anchor tenants and opened over 100 smaller businesses.

The mall has most recently announced that it has signed a long-term lease with Sky Castle as it’s largest anchor tenant yet, filling 34,000 square feet with the likes of a climbing zone, a mini-carousel, snow castle, ferris wheel, donut slide, toddler jumping zone, castle stage, and much more, according to the release.

“Sky Castle is a game changer for New Horizon Mall,” said Ross Cannata of New Horizon Mall Inc. in the release. “There was a lot of interest in this space from many different organizations but we wanted a strong anchor tenant that will attract shoppers and families and we are ecstatic to have Sky Castle on board.”

New Horizon Mall’s other two anchor tenants come in the form of indoor fresh market Prairie Horizon Fresh Market that is set to open this March and department store The Best Shop, while Sky Castle is expected to open to the public this fall.

With the Sky Castle lease signed, New Horizon Mall marks 53% of their total retail space leased, or 110,100 square feet of their total 204,975 square feet.

“New Horizon Mall is here to stay,” said Cannata.

“With more than 53 per cent of all retail space in the mall leased, Prairie Horizon Fresh Market opening in early March, and a massive family entertainment centre, New Horizon Mall now has significant momentum.”

More information about Sky Castle will be made available over the next few months, according to the release.
