Two deaths, 57 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Alberta

In a Tuesday press conference, Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said the province has seen 57 new known cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

This brings the province’s known total to 5,893.

She noted that there have also been two new deaths in the province that were coronavirus-related.

This brings Alberta’s total coronavirus-related deaths to 106.

Hinshaw also stated that there are currently 622 active cases at continuing care centres throughout the province.

Hinshaw noted that there have been 949 confirmed cases at the Cargill meatpacking plant in High River, though 810 of those cases have since recovered.

The JBS plant in Brooks has seen 487 cases, while the Harmony meat packing plant has seen 36 cases at their outbreak.

A total of 3,219 people have recovered from coronavirus in Alberta so far — 277 more than 24 hours ago.
