Four deaths, 58 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Alberta

In a Friday press conference, Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said the province has seen 58 new known cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

This brings the province’s known total to 6,515.

She noted that there has been four new deaths in the province related to coronavirus — all residents of continuing care centres in Calgary.

This brings the province’s total to 125.

Hinshaw also noted that there are currently 62 cases in hospital, and nine in ICU.

Today’s 58 new cases were detected as a result of 4,505 tests being carried out over the past 24 hours.

Hinshaw also noted that, of the asymptomatic Calgarians that have been tested over the past week, the province detected a total of 50 positive coronavirus cases.
