Looking for new spots to try out? Look no further.
Here are three new restaurants to check out right now in Calgary.
1. Bread and Circus Trattoria
Opening its doors this month, Bread and Circus knows that nothing beats a bowl of house-made pasta although it’s better if it’s swirled within a wheel of three year aged parmigiana reggiano and topped with black pepper like their caciao e pepe linguine. The menu offers classic Italian plates (just like mama would make them) with dishes like carbonara, spaghetti and meatballs, along with oxtail rigatoni made with red wine raisins, celery, pine nuts and a raw cacao vinaigrette.

2. Elbow Room
From Moroccan vegetable stew to house-made andouille sausage to an Icelandic cod dish, this menu serves up Canadian cuisine in a deliciously culturally fused way (but don’t worry, there is still an Alberta beef burger on the menu). Offering the four most important meals of the day (brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour) this restaurant proves the only room you’ll need – but won’t leave with – is stomach room.
Address: 802 49 Street SW

3. Tavernetta
Set in a century-old house, this spot gives you all of the Italian family dinner feels with its cozy at-home atmosphere (including a fenced backyard patio with a bocce court), fresh house-made pasta, and a hell of a laid-back attitude as 90s R&B hip hop fills the space (tunes nonna might not approve of). The menu offers heart-core Italian bites and plates including charcoal-fired duck wing, calamari, and Alberta beef spiedini (Italian skewers) with classic dishes like herbed ricotta gnocchi and creamy corn and buckwheat polenta with pork shoulder ragu and pecorino.
