Three deaths, 190 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Alberta

In a Thursday press conference, Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said the province has seen 190 new known cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

This brings the province’s known total to 5,355.

She noted that there have also been three new deaths in the province that were coronavirus-related.

This brings Alberta’s total coronavirus-related deaths to 89, as one previously reported death has been reclassified as not related to the virus.

Hinshaw also stated that there are currently 544 active cases at continuing care centres throughout the province.

Hinshaw noted that there have been 908 confirmed cases at the Cargill meat packing plant in High River, and 333 cases at the JBS meat plant in Brooks.

A total of 2,161 people have recovered from coronavirus in Alberta so far.
