Mar 18 2026, 10:33 pm

Murray Edwards, the owner of the Calgary Flames, has landed himself a spot on Forbes’ billionaires list, seeing his net worth boom by nearly $2 billion in the past year.

Edwards found himself in spot number 908 on the list with a net worth of $4.8 billion, a significant jump from his 1,305th spot in 2025.

The majority of Edwards’ fortune comes from his stakes in oil and mining companies like Canadian Natural Resources, Ensign Energy, and  Imperial Metals.

Aside from his work in natural resources, he co-owns the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC), which includes the Calgary Flames. Edwards has been a co-owner of the organization since 1994 and is currently the chairman of the CSEC.

The billionaire’s net worth has been up and down over the years, sitting at $2.9 billion in 2022, dropping to $2.7 billion in 2023, rising to $3.3 billion in 2024, before dropping back to $2.8 billion in 2025 and skyrocketing to $4.7 billion this year.
