These are the most valuable brands in the world right now

RBC is Canada’s most valuable brand, according to a new ranking of the top 500 most valuable brands in the world by Brand Finance.

The independent brand valuation and strategy consultancy estimated the brand value of companies across all sectors and countries from around the world.

The new report, which was revealed at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, last month, found Amazon maintains the title as the world’s most valuable brand, growing nearly 25% to an impressive USD $187.9 billion since last year.

This is nearly over USD $30 billion more than second-place Apple, which has a brand value of USD $153.6 billion. Following in third is Google, with a brand value of USD $142.7 billion, up 18% since last year.

In Canada, the most valuable brands were largely banks and telecoms companies.

The top was RBC, which came in at 97th place in the world overall. TD followed in 121st place and Scotiabank came in third at 155th place. No brand values were available.

It’s important to note that Tim Horton’s didn’t make it onto Canada’s top 10 most valuable brands. This year, the coffee chain ranked in at 375th overall, down 20 spots from 355th since last year.
