A member of the Calgary Police Service is facing child pornography charges.

According to a statement released by the CPS on Friday, Constable Thomas Buttle, a four year patrol member, has been charged with offenses related to possessing child pornography.

Buttle has been placed on administrative leave while police review the situation, according to the CPS statement.

“The Calgary Police Service takes these charges very seriously,” the statement read.

“Allegations such as these not only have a profound impact on the community, but also other members of the Service who work so hard to build the reputation we need to best serve our city.”
