Charges laid in 2018 double homicide of young men in northwest Calgary

Police have arrested and charged a Calgary man for the murder of two young men in Evanston in April 2018.

Christopher Naidu, 29, was arrested in Calgary on Friday, June 14 after a 14-month-long investigation into the double homicide of Joshua Brendan Bamfo, 25, and Mahad Abdiraham Ainanshe, 23, according to a CPS release. 

Naidu was officially charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Saturday, June 15.

Bamfo and Ainanshe were found in a vehicle by emergency responders who were called to the 100-block of Evanscrest Mews NW at around 3:10 pm on April 20, 2018.

A third unidentified man was seen fleeing from the incident.

Police arrested Naidu on April 22, 2018, but later released him without charge.

The Calgary Police believe the suspect and the deceased knew each other and that the murders were targeted, states the release.

Naidu will next appear in court on Monday, June 17.
