KLEIN / HARRIS serving Canadiana cuisine opens on Stephen Avenue

KLEIN / HARRIS, the new independent restaurant created by local culinary and cocktail duo James Waters and Christina Mah, officially opened its doors on March 31, along Stephen Avenue.

Taking the place of Home Tasting Room (at 110 8th Avenue), KLEIN / HARRIS celebrates the exceptional bounty that Canada has to offer.

Chef James Waters (previously at Home Tasting Room) administers an honest and humble approach to “True North Canadiana Cuisine”. Working with a long list of Canadian producers and suppliers, Chef Waters focuses on distinct coast-to-coast Canadiana dishes. Patrons can therefore expect to find ingredients like wild seasonal mushrooms from British Columbia and fresh oysters from the Maritimes.

Partner and cocktail curator Christina Mah (best known for building Raw Bar’s libation program) offers an elevated handcrafted beverage program that explores both tried and true Canadian creations and venerable classics.

The interior space, which is subtly split in two (KLEIN at the front of the restaurant is home to a sit down area, while HARRIS towards the rear boasts a bar with couches for people to lounge on) was re-imagined by Kasey Sterling from Korr Design.

Along with a custom floor to ceiling spirits display, the 95-seat room features custom-built chairs by the Calgary Drop-in Woodshop Training and Production Centre.
