Spoons up! Calgary’s brimming ramen scene is getting a new addition, and very soon: Jinya Ramen Bar will open up their YYC outpost of the international franchise on January 12, 2017.

Started several years ago in Los Angeles, Jinya’s ramen shops are known for their soul-satisfying broths (pork, chicken, or vegetable) and their super slurp-able noodles (available in thick or thin).

While their signature bowl is their Tonkatsu Black (pork broth: pork chashu, kikurage, green onion, nori dried seaweed, seasoned egg, garlic chips, garlic oil, fried onion, spicy sauce, served with thin noodles), Jinya will also offer Calgarians a “Premium White” or Spicy tonkotsu option, along with Spicy Umami Miso Ramen, a Cha Cha Cha ramen pegged for garlic lovers, an “Old Skool” ramen, and even a Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen.

Want more noodles? Order a “Kaedama” before you finish your bowl and they’ll bring you additional noodles for your broth.

It’s not all ramen at Jinya, though. They’ve got an abundance of side dishes, appies, and share plates, from Salmon Poké Mini Tacos to rice bowls, desserts, salads, bao buns, kids meals, and much more.

Since their 2010 launch in L.A.’s Studio City neighbourhood (when a famous reviewer’s praise made getting a seat pretty hard!), the ramen shop has expanded wildly, from all over California to numerous U.S. states, and into Vancouver and Toronto in Canada. Follow their Instagram for more opening day excitement.
