One of Calgary’s most beloved grocery stores is set to open a new location in the city this week.

The Italian Centre Shop will be opening up its doors at its new Northland Village Mall on July 16, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony kicking off at 10 a.m.

The new 22,000 sq. ft. location will offer a vast range of European groceries, a full-service deli with cured meats, imported cheeses and antipasti, a tavola calda with ready-to-eat hot meals, an artisan bakery, and a cafe with made-to-order pizzas, panini, and coffee.

The store has also been designed to harken back to its Italian roots, with a barrel-vaulted ceiling, Roman-inspired architecture such as arches and columns and a “Pantheon of Bread,” showcasing the fresh-baked bread.

Founded in Edmonton in 1959, the Northland location will be the Italian Centre Shop’s sixth across Alberta and its second in Calgary.
