First International Christmas Market of the year to be held next weekend

Nov 6 2019, 11:27 pm

You know it’s the holiday season when Christmas markets start popping up around the city.

One of Calgary’s favourite holiday markets, the Spruce Meadows International Christmas Market, will be back in YYC starting next Friday, November 15, for the first of its three-weekend run leading up to the holidays.

Visitors to the market can expect a dazzling display of lights, some delicious treats, and the perfect place to get a few pre-Christmas-chaos presents.

“Enjoy 300+ vendors spreading Christmas Spirit in the indoor comfort of the Spruce Meadows Riding Hall, Equi-Plex, Horizons, Gallery on the Green at Congress Hall, Reindeer Alley, and Candy Cane Lane,” the event’s official website states.

“Our outdoor areas include, ‘Founders Plaza,’ ‘Twin-Peaks’ and many more individual vendors around the grounds.”

Live entertainment is also planned to be on scene, so be sure to expect a few of your favourite Christmas tunes alongside some more international songs.

Tickets are already on sale for the market, and forward-thinking attendees will be able to save $2 per ticket by buying early online.

Otherwise, it’ll be $12 at the gate, as well as another $10 if you’re hoping to snag some premium parking.

It should also be noted that each ticket is good for one entry, rather than for the whole weekend, though a multi-day, nine admission pass can be bought for $72.
