Ice Cube will be performing a concert in Calgary this July

UPDATE: This article has been changed to show the correct concert date of Sunday, July 22. 

Actor, rapper, writer, and producer Ice Cube is coming to Calgary this summer.

You may know him for his roles in Are We There Yet?, Ride Along, and Barber Shop, but his first claim to fame was through his music.

Cube grew up in the 80s in Los Angeles and had the opportunity to live through a time when hip-hop in LA was at the forefront of its expansion — going from a local sound to a global one.

He was able to pick up on an abundance of street knowledge, sports fanaticism, and social injustice during this time to create a loyal fan-base.

In Cube’s career as a solo artist, he sold over 10 million albums and is now subsequently working on the next, Everythang’s Corrupt.

“I promise you it will be great. It’s not about where you are in the charts, it’s about where you are in the hearts,” Ice Cube said in a press release.

“Bob Marley and Marvin Gaye didn’t top the charts with every record they released, but every record they released was a great record. My music is always satisfying to my fans, that’s the important thing.”

Ice Cube will be at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino on July 22.
