How to watch both Edmonton Oilers vs. Calgary Flames games tonight

Sep 21 2025, 3:49 pm

The Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames open up their preseason schedule with a pair of split-squad games tonight, but they won’t be broadcast on TV.

With fans clamouring to watch their teams begin a new season, both the Oilers and Flames will battle each other with two separate games going on at the same time. Those scrolling through their TV guide won’t find much, however, as the games will be streamed online.

The game taking place in Calgary will be available to stream for free on the Flames website. Due to broadcast restrictions, this game will only be available to viewers in Alberta, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

Sportsnet 960 The Fan will carry a radio broadcast of the Calgary game as well.

Unfortunately, the game in Edmonton is behind a paywall and will only be available to watch through Oilers Plus. The regular price for an Oilers Plus subscription costs $8.99 per month or $59.99 for an entire year. The team, however, is currently offering a promo code (PRESEASON25) to get a year’s subscription for $17.99.

If you don’t want to shell out the money to watch this one, the game will also be broadcast on 880 CHED.

Isaac Howard, Quinn Hutson, and Beau Akey will headline the Oilers roster in Calgary, while the Flames will be countering with a veteran lineup that includes Mikael Backlund, Nazem Kadri, and Rasmus Andersson.

In the Alberta capital, the Flames’ roster will feature players like Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee. The Oilers are keeping both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl off the ice tonight, with their home-ice lineup featuring Matt Savoie, Trent Frederic and David Tomasek.

This is a tradition between the Oilers and Flames. Last year’s split-squad preseason games saw the Flames take a clean sweep, winning both games. They won in Edmonton by a score of 6-3 and dominated in Calgary with a 6-1 drubbing.

It’ll be on the Oilers this time around to seek revenge against their provincial rivals.

Puck drop for both games is set for 6 p.m. MDT.
