Out of a list of occupations, researchers then categorized them according to the following criteria:

  • Balanced: Enough jobs for those looking for work
  • Cool: Fewer jobs than job seekers
  • Cold: Far fewer jobs than job seekers

  2. Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
  3. Financial auditors and accountants
  4. Sales and account representatives – wholesale trade (non-technical)
  5. Material handlers
  6. Information systems specialists
  7. Professional occupations in advertising, marketing and public relations
  8. Welders and related machine operators
  9. Accounting and related clerks
  10. Software developers and programmers
