Get ready to be scared stiff! Calgary’s Horror Film Festival – Horror Con – will fill you with fear this year, when it takes over the Clarion Hotel on June 11 and 12.
Guests include three Jasons (Derek Mears, Ken Kirzinger and Ari Lehman) and two Final Girls (Adrienne King and Amy Steel) from the Friday the 13th franchise.
Dick Warlock and Tyler Mane, who played Michael Myers in the Halloween franchise, will also attend, as will Eugene “Big Daddy” Clark from Land of the Dead.
Last but not least, Canadian actress Emily Perkins, who starred as Brigitte, the death-obsessed sister of a werewolf in Gingersnaps I, II and III, will also be roaming the room.
Horror movies selected for the festival from around the world this year include:
- American Burger (Sweden) – A busload of American tourists go for a tour of a strange factory in the European woods, called “American Burger”… it doesn’t take long for them to realize they are the main ingredient.
- She Kills (U.S.) – A “Ron Bonk” homage to 1970s Grindhouse/Exploitation films.
- Idyll (Slovenia) – An ordinary fashion shoot in nature turns into a fierce fight for survival as a photographer and model run into local residents.

Horror fans who can’t wait to feel the fear can head to Dickens Pub on Friday, June 10 – guests will arrive in hearses at 9 p.m.
The night will include a celebrity meet and greet, a white hat ceremony and a live performance by the first Jason, Ari Lehman, who has his own Machete Keytar. For real.
