Popular Calgary sports bar to close after almost seven years
A popular Calgary sports bar and restaurant is closing its doors next month, after nearly seven years in its current location.
Home and Away has revealed it will be closing its Calgary location at 1207 1st St. SW on April 5. The bar didn’t give a reason behind the closure.
The spot is one of YYC’s best-known sports bars, where guests can grab bar snacks, drinks, and dance the night away.

First opening on 17th Avenue, Home and Away closed its OG location back in 2019 after almost four years in operation. However, it reopened later that year in its Victoria Park spot, where it remained for almost seven years.
Home and Away also had an Edmonton location, which closed in March 2025.
To celebrate the end of an era, Calgarians will still be able to visit Home and Away for its last two weeks.
