The Haskayne Legacy Park development is set to enter phase two this spring, bringing some new features to the park as part of the City of Calgary’s multi-phase development plan.

According to the City of Calgary’s website, phase two will begin this spring, and the park is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. The second phase focuses on infrastructure and access improvements within the park.

Some of the new features being added in phase two include pathway and railway crossing improvements, a new pedestrian bridge, a Haskayne Legacy Park and Glenbow Ranch gateway feature, a new Haskayne Legacy Park entrance sign, and immersive nature-inspired rest and play areas.

Haskayne Legacy Park is located along the Bow River in northwest Calgary, near Bearspaw and the Glenbow Ranch. It currently features an outdoor gathering space with an overhead pergola and gas fireplace, seating, picnic tables, large harvest picnic tables, bike racks, and washrooms.

Permits for the park were approved back in 2015, and construction started in 2019. Phase one of the project, which was completed in 2023, included planting trees and shrubs, constructing a hard plaza, sidewalk, and parking lot, the addition of pathways and viewpoints, a park pavilion building, and building a public access road.

While the park is undergoing phase two of the development, it will remain open to the public, but the City says to watch for signage and crews while visiting the park.
