Three members of a Canadian junior hockey team were killed in a crash on Monday morning, and a GoFundMe has been set up to raise funds for their families.
According to GoFundMe, three teenage members of the Southern Alberta Mustangs, a junior hockey team in the U.S. Premier Hockey League (USPHL), died in a motor vehicle collision. The incident occurred in Stavely, a town located one hour southeast of Calgary.
“On behalf of the coaches and owner, we want to help lift the financial burden of travel, funeral costs, and day-to-day expenses of the players’ families from Canada and the United States,” reads the post.

Donations have poured in, and in less than 24 hours, the fundraiser has managed to raise more than half of its $28,000 goal.
The RCMP Claresholm detachment states in a release that at around 11 a.m. on Monday, it responded to a collision between a semi-truck pulling gravel and a small passenger vehicle. The 40-year-old male driver of the semi-truck was treated for minor injuries.
“Unfortunately, all three occupants of the passenger vehicle, two 18-year-old male residents of Kamloops, B.C., and a 17-year-old Alabama, U.S.A. resident, were declared deceased at the scene,” reads the statement.
The RCMP says that the investigation is ongoing.
The Southern Alberta Mustangs shared an official statement on Facebook, stating that the three players had been on their way to team practice.
“There are no words that can adequately express the depth of our grief,” reads the statement. “These young men were more than hockey players — they were teammates, sons, brothers, friends, and deeply loved members of our Mustangs family and the communities we call home.”
The three players were identified as J.J. Wright, Cameron Casorso, and Caden Fine and a photo of the teenagers’ jerseys was shared to honour them.
In an X post, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith said that “Alberta is heartbroken at the loss of three young hockey players.”
“My deepest condolences are with their families, teammates, coaches, billet families and the entire community of Stavely and the surrounding area as they grieve this unimaginable loss. The whole Alberta hockey family is standing with you in sorrow and in prayer,” she stated.
