Calgary’s first mobile grocery store Fresh Routes is officially launching next week.

The retrofitted bus, which will carry healthy and affordable food to Calgary communities, will be unveiled on October 7, at 4 pm at Cold Garden Beverage Company (1100 11 Street SE).

The new bus’ route, AKA the ‘Nutrien Line,’ will serve as the city’s newest non-profit social enterprise and first-ever mobile grocery store.

The bus will bring nutritious food directly to communities that may be facing transportation or economic barriers when finding fresh produce.

The food is purchased from a partnership with H&W produce, and other local sources.

“The Fresh Routes bus will allow people to purchase healthy choices, maintain dignity and build community,” said Lourdes Juan, the co-founder of Fresh Routes. “We operate over 60 routes per month in 20 communities throughout Calgary and Edmonton.”

Be sure to keep an eye out for this new community-driven grocery-store-on-wheels in YYC, or check out the schedule and track it down yourself.
