Eddie Lack’s on the move again.

This time the Swedish goaltender, who turns 30 next week, is off to New Jersey.
The Calgary Flames dealt Lack, who was sent to the minors last month, to the Devils for defenceman Dalton Prout. Prout is a 27-year-old defenceman with 243 games of NHL experience – though he hasn’t played more than 64 games in a season since 2015-16.
Listed at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, Prout will bring toughness to the Flames organization, as evidenced by his career tally of 306 penalty minutes. He’ll start in the AHL with the Stockton Heat.
Lack has had a terrible time since leaving the Vancouver Canucks in 2015. He struggled mightily in his two years with the Carolina Hurricanes, and was given up on by Calgary this season after just four appearances, in which he posted an .813 save percentage.
New Jersey could be the best spot for Lack, given that his old Vancouver goaltending coach Rollie Melanson is now in charge of the Devils netminders.
Lack will start with New Jersey’s AHL affiliate in Binghamton, but given that Devils backup Keith Kinkaid (.893 SV%) is having a sub-par season so far, perhaps a return to the NHL this season isn’t out of the question.
Both Lack and Prout are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents at the end of the season.
