4 Flames players to march in Calgary Pride Parade

Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation will have a big presence at Calgary Pride again this year.

The company that owns Calgary’s major sports teams – the Flames, Stampeders, Hitmen, and Roughnecks – will have at least one representative from each team in the Pride Parade.

That list includes four Flames players, as Mark Giordano, Sean Monahan, Eddie Lack, and Kris Versteeg will be marching. Matt Stajan, Troy Brouwer, and Chad Johnson represented the Flames last year.

Four Hitmen players will be on hand – Drea Esposito, Justyn Gurney, and Murphy Stratton – as will Roughnecks defenceman Garrett McIntosh.

The Stamps will be preparing for their Labour Day game against the Edmonton Eskimos, so they’re sending retired star running back Jon Cornish. Cornish is also a You Can Play ambassador.

The parade goes from noon to 2 pm on Sunday. The route begins on 6th Avenue SE, heading west, and finishing on 6th Street SW.
