Calgary Flames star Jonathan Huberdeau is getting married to longtime girlfriend Catherine Deslongchamps after a Valentine’s Day proposal.

It appears the couple made the most of their 4 Nations break as Huberdeau announced his engagement on Instagram with photos revealing an elaborate ocean-side proposal complete with a path lined with flowers as well as a giant heart at the end, where he eventually popped the question.

“My forever Valentine,” Huberdeau captioned the post.

The comment section on the post has garnered congratulatory messages from Maggie Wallace, the wife of Flames defenceman MacKenzie Weegar, as well as teammates Joel Hanley and captain Mikael Backlund. Even former Flames player Jakob Pelletier, who was recently traded to the Philadelphia Flyers, chimed in with a supportive message for Huberdeau.

A wedding date for the happy couple has not yet been announced.

This is yet another exciting development in what has been a busy year for both Huberdeau and Deslongchamps. In December, the couple announced that they were pregnant with their first baby together.

The off-ice activities have been fantastic for Huberdeau, but he should also be excited about what’s happening on the ice as well. After a few disappointing seasons in Calgary, the 31-year-old currently has 21 goals and 41 points in 55 games this season. That leads the team in both categories.

Huberdeau has been a very important piece for a Flames team that is currently fighting for a playoff spot. They currently sit just three points back of the Vancouver Canucks for the final wildcard spot in the Western Conference and it’s setting up to be quite the final stretch.

With a new baby on the way and a wedding to look forward to, Huberdeau will have all the motivation in the world to help his Flames team make that unlikely jump back into the playoff picture.
