Calgary Flames forward Jonathan Huberdeau is going to be a dad.
The 31-year-old’s girlfriend, Catherine Deslongchamps, took to Instagram yesterday to announce the exciting news.
“Baby Huberdeau on the way,” she wrote on Instagram (translated from French to English with Google Translate). “The most beautiful adventure awaits us!”
Several teammates congratulated the couple on the post, including MacKenzie Weegar and Jakob Pelletier.
Amanda Markstrom, the wife of former Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom, also shared her excitement, writing, “Guys! Congratulations, so happy for you.”

Huberdeau and Deslongchamps aren’t overly active on Instagram, though they did upload some pictures this summer from what looked like an awesome holiday together.

This holiday break was likely extra special for Huberdeau and Deslongchamps, who will become parents for the first time in the new year.
What likely made things even more exciting was that the couple had some time to celebrate, as the Flames were able to get a rather long and unusual six-day break over the holidays. They will be back in action tonight as they are set to take on the Sharks in San Jose.
The Flames have had a much better start to the season than anticipated, sitting just two points out of a playoff spot with a 16-11-7 record. Huberdeau has played a big part in that success, as he’s having his best season as a Flame with a team-leading 13 goals and 25 points through 34 games. He’s on pace for 31 goals, which would set a new career high.
Thanks to the strong start this season, Flames fans have really begun rallying around Huberdeau. Safe to say, they will all be eagerly awaiting baby Huberdeau to be born.
