The Calgary Flames are asking fans for input in shaping the experience that will come when watching games at Scotia Place.

The new event centre, which started being built in July 0f 2024, is expected to be ready to rock for the 2027-28 NHL season. That means that there is just one season of action remaining at the Saddledome.

While seeing the Saddledome torn down will be a sad sight for Flames fans, the excitement for this new building is at an all-time high.

Scotia Place will feature indoor and outdoor gathering areas, a multi-level sports bar/restaurant, year-round open-air patios, and much, much more.

And, while the design of the building has been decided upon for quite some time, the Flames are asking their fan base to help ensure that Scotia Place will be the best building in the NHL to watch games.

“As we look ahead to the transition to Scotia Place, we have a unique opportunity to reimagine the Calgary Flames fan experience from the ground up,” the Flames released in a statement. “To do that well, we need to hear directly from you.

“We’re inviting you to take a few minutes to complete our Fan Journey Survey. This survey is designed to better understand the moments that matter most to you as a fan — what makes a great gameday, what can get in the way, and what you want the experience at Scotia Place to feel like.”

The survey, which takes just five to 10 minutes to complete, asks fans several questions, including game-day experience at the Saddledome and what can be done to make it more pleasurable. The real exciting part, however, comes in the final section of the survey titled “What Scotia Place Must Get Right.”

Questions in this portion of the survey ask fans what they hope to feel when first entering Scotia Place, their biggest concern about the move to the new arena, and one thing the new building absolutely needs to get right for fans. There is also a ranking system, where fans are asked about the most important aspects of the experience.

“Your feedback will play a direct role in shaping how we design the fan experience for opening night in 2027 and beyond. Whether you attend every game or join us occasionally, your perspective is important.”

So, whether it’s for Flames games, concerts, or whatever other events you may plan on attending at Scotia Place, you now have the option to complete this survey and give your input into what will make this building the cream of the crop when it comes to NHL arenas.
