A building being constructed into a new Cineplex movie theatre went up in flames on Sunday evening.
At around 7 pm on November 5, the Calgary Fire Department was called to a soon-to-be opened Cineplex building on Seton Crescent in southeast Calgary.

When firefighters arrived, they saw large plumes of smoke issuing from the building, so a second alarm was struck, according to a release from the Calgary Fire Department.
Firefighters could not enter the building initially, so water was flown in and dumped on the building from above.
Around 50 firefighters were on scene to fight the fire, the release said, as low temperatures required a rotating crew and limited time spent outdoors.
It is not clear what started the fire, though investigators were on scene later that night.
