Early liquor service is back for Calgary Stampede 2025 — here’s what to know

Calgarians will once again be able to get their hands on booze early during the Calgary Stampede in 2025.

Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) has confirmed that early liquor service hours will return for the Calgary Stampede this year, which takes place from July 4 to July 13.

Throughout the 10-day celebration, the blanket approval will allow bars, restaurants, taprooms and convention centres within the City of Calgary to serve booze from 8 a.m., effectively meaning diners will be able to get a beer with their breakfast.

However, on July 4, the day of the legendary Calgary Stampede Parade, licensed establishments will be able to serve alcohol as early as 7 a.m.

For private events, hours are extended to allow alcohol to be served from 6:30 a.m. However, any groups looking to hold public or private events will need to obtain individual prior approval from AGLC.

While Calgarians will be able to get hold of booze earlier in the day, closing hours for liquor service will remain unchanged, with service allowed until 2 a.m. All other rules guiding the service of alcohol will remain in full effect.
