Calgary's first-ever hot dog festival kicks off this week – here are the restaurants taking part

A brand-new Calgary food festival launches this weekend, with dozens of the city’s top eateries set to take part.

Dog Days Festival, a new two-week celebration of the humble hot dog, officially kicks off on Saturday, May 23, running through to June 6, with over 45 YYC hot spots gearing up to take part.

From the classic ballpark-style dog to insanely creative takes, there’s going to be something for everyone. Best of all, for every hot dog sold at a participating restaurant, $1 will go to support Pet Access League Society (PALS), a non-profit that provides pet therapy visits to dozens of facilities in the city.

There’ll also be a kick-off party at Cold Garden on Saturday, May 23, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., where $1 for every The Dogfather Cheesy Pawrito Hot Dog or Cold Garden Pool Party Blonde sold will go towards PALS. There will even be some cute therapy dogs to hang out with.
