While Calgary has a ton of exciting food festivals on the horizon, the city is set to see a brand-new addition that’s nothing to sniff at.
Dog Days, a brand-new food festival, is heading to Calgary next month, where it will be celebrating the humble hot dog.
The two-week-long festival kicks off on May 23, with participating restaurants and eateries serving up their takes on the classic snack. So far, several YYC faves, including Lulu Bar, The Dogfather and Pigeonhole, are set to take part.

Best of all, Dog Days will be raising money for a good cause. Throughout the festival, $1 from every Dog Days dog served will be donated to the Pet Access League Society (PALS), a non-profit that provides pet therapy visits to dozens of facilities in the city
Restaurants are still able to sign up to participate in Dog Days until April 24, so there’s still time to get involved.
Until then, the rest of us can sit and contemplate the age-old question of whether a hot dog is in fact a sandwich.
